Reports: Barcelona eye a loan move for Serie A star

SportsReports: Barcelona eye a loan move for Serie A star

Barcelona is reportedly eyeing a potential loan move for Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic, with the option to buy the player at the end of the season.

The Croatian international has become one of the best midfielders in Serie A since Dinamo joined Inter on loan from Zagreb in January 2015. He has made his 302 appearances in all competitions with the Nerazzurri and has won all of Italy’s major trophies in football.

But his time at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium could come to a standstill. According to Mundo Deportivo journalist Ferran Martinez (h/t @ReshadRahman_), Barcelona has its sights on the 30-year-old.

They want to rent him out until the end of the season, with the option to transfer him outright in the summer. The current deal with Inter runs until the end of the 2025/26 season.

He continues to be a key part of Simone Inzaghi’s plan to play with him whenever he is in good shape and free. However, injuries limited him to just 10 appearances in Serie A this season.

Brozovic can appeal to Blaugrana as he can play both the No. 8 and No. 6 jerseys. It looks like we need to find a replacement for Sergio Busquets in defensive midfield.

The 34-year-old could leave Spotify as a free agent this summer with six months left on his Nou contract. Xavi Hernández’s current midfield options include Busquets, Gabi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Pablo Torre, and Frank Kesy.

The Dutch international has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal in which Barca will collect a transfer fee of 4 million euros, including additional fees. They are also believed to have acquired the right to purchase Yannick Carrasco permanently.

During his presentation, Depay said Ross was thrilled with the new stadium in Colchoneros and the way they are playing football, he also said he was promised a key role in their team.

Depay says (with Barca Blaugranes):

“I had the experience of playing against them last year. I was impressed by the new stadium and the intensity with which they play, the fighting spirit.”

“We had a bad time, we lost. It’s a very big club and a good team. I’ve heard a lot of good stories about them. The club made it clear to me that they wanted me to be in the team.”

The only time he has ever played against Atlético Madrid was when he played the full 90 minutes in Barcelona’s 0-2 loss in October 2021.
